CMV (Cytomegalovirus) Test

• Cytomegalovirus is a common virus that usually causes no symptoms or only mild illness.
• Tests for CMV can detect IgM antibodies in the blood that the body produces in response to infection or detect CMV directly. IgM antibodies usually develop within 1-2 weeks after the initial infection and are no longer detectable after several months.
