Ultrasound (USG)

• Ultrasonography or ultrasound is a scanning or imaging technique using high-frequency sound waves ( ultrasound) to display images of the human body.

Ultrasound types

• Ultrasound Abdomen, is a type of ultrasound examination performed from the outside (external) by attaching a transducer to the surface of the abdomen.
• Transvaginal ultrasound is an ultrasound examination by inserting a stick-shaped transducer into the vagina. This ultrasound method is used to check the health condition of the ovaries, cervix, vagina, fallopian tubes, and uterus either in general or as a pregnancy check.
• 3D ultrasound, is a type of ultrasound that can produce ultrasound results in three-dimensional (3D) images that are clearer in shape than regular ultrasound with 2-dimensional (2D) results.
• 4D ultrasound, not only displays images as clear as 3D but also provides a capture of the inside of the organs in the video.
• Transrectal (TRUS), this examination, a transducer is placed into the rectum to assess the condition of the prostate gland and surrounding tissue. The TRUS test can help diagnose symptoms of difficulty urinating, investigate abnormal lumps or other abnormalities, and check for prostate enlargement.
• Chest ultrasound Chest ultrasound can help doctors check the condition of the lungs, trachea, esophagus, lymph nodes, and heart and valves.
• Doppler ultrasound, can be used to measure the speed and direction of blood flow as it moves through the body. Doppler ultrasound can help doctors see blockages, clots and narrowed blood vessels that may be caused by plaque.
• Breast ultrasound, or mammary ultrasound is generally performed to examine breast tissue if a lump, tumor, breast cancer or other abnormality is suspected.
• Bone Ultrasound, Bone ultrasound is used to view the internal bone structure. This procedure is performed to assess bone fragility, examine joint disorders and metabolic disorders in the bones, and help diagnose osteoporosis.
• Head ultrasound, head ultrasound is usually used to find the location of the tumor when going to carry out a head surgery procedure. In addition, this ultrasound is also often used to detect brain abnormalities in babies who experience brain injury or bleeding, are born prematurely, or have birth defects such as tumors, neurological disorders, or hydrocephalus.
• Ultrasound of the eye, is a type of ultrasound specifically designed to see the structures and tissues inside the eyeball.
